Biographical Notes

 

Early 1980's - Actively participated in many aspects of artistic life in Moscow. This included the organization of concerts and festivals in small clubs, and reading lectures in various auditoriums covering subjects on traditional and contemporary music.

1984 - First music article is published in a periodical journal. This leads to a successful period of music journalism where various styles of writing are explored from essays to reviews and interviews. These have appeared in daily journals and newspapers as well as specialist periodicals.

Mid 1980's - Begins to organize concerts and festivals beyond Moscow including Volgograd, Ekaterinburg, Smolensk and the provinces of Moscow.

Late 1980's - Early 1990's - Regular concerts and festivals start to take shape from folklore to modern classical and avant-garde. During the same period a similar output level stretches to lectures and music reviews throughout the country. This includes a course of lectures "The theory and history of music", which was instigated in several higher educational institutes in Moscow. As well as this has read lectures on the theoretical problems of improvised music at music conferences.

1990 - Broadcasts jazz programs on Russian radio.

1991 - Joint producer of a television monthly jazz program "Jazz Time". Member of the musicians and literaturers unions.

1992 - Creator of a television series on jazz documentaries. Founder member of the "Cotton Club" (riverboat jazz club in Moscow).

1993 - 1994 - Active organizer of music festivals in Russia with a special emphasis on introducing more of European dimension in many major cities. These years was master of ceremonies at two Russian-German Festivals in Hamburg and Berlin. Introduced regular contemporary music concerts in conjunction with Russian TV, which has become a popular program.

1994 - 1998 - Producer and manager of the Moscow Composers Orchestra including two European tours of the Orchestra (Russia, Lithuania, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Great Britain, Finland, France) and CD’s  “Kings and Cabbages” and “An Italian Love Affair” (Leo Records), “Life at City Garden” (U-Sound) and «The Gift» (Long Arms Records). Continues to be an active collaborator of new music festivals and tours both in Europe and Japan.

1996 - 2002 - Cofounder (with Sergey Kuryokhin) and producer of the LONG ARMS concert agency and record label.

1998 - 2000 - Joint producer of a new and world music festivals in Austria and Japan.

1999 - Founder member of the DOM Cultural Centre in Moscow.

2000 - Executive producer of BACH MIT UNS music festival in Moscow.

2000 - 2002 - Cofounder (with Rustam Suleimanov) and producer of the DOM record label. Organizer of world music festivals in Russia, among it events in the prestigious concert halls Bolshoy Theater, Moscow Conservatory, Tchaikovsky Philharmonic Hall in Moscow.

2002 - Founder member of the DEVOTIO MODERNA Centre for support and development of new music in Moscow.
