Vladimir Martynov - Come in

Dlinnye ruki / CCn'C

Vladimir Martynov is one of the few composers who is just as popular in the Conservatory as in the Dom Cultural Centre. He writes works in the traditions of Old Russian church singing and conceptual opuses on texts by Kharms for Mark Pekarsky's group. He develops new culturological concepts in books and writes music for films. Come in (the third disk by Martynov to be released by Dlinnye ruki) contains his compositions for the violin. Tatyana Grindenko is the soloist - the composer's wife and one of the best interpreters of his work. Come in - is the name of a composition written in 1998 and is a translation of one of the words of Ioann Lestvichnik, who is quoted in the booklet: "The stairway to the kingdom of heaven is inside you... In answer to our knock we hear a voice that says to us - come in!". The bright and tender violin part is interrupted from time to time by a hammer knocking on a secret door. Two other compositions "Autumn Ball of Elves" (1994) and "Bach's Afternoon Relaxation" were written later. In every work, each melody is more beautiful than the last. Ordinary listeners will enjoy it, but specialists will understand that it is all an exquisite musical glass bead game.
